Carpet Mold Must Be Removed Immediately
09/12/2014 Back To BlogCarpets are susceptible to mold. They can make excellent shelters for mildew growth especially if they are damp. The bad news is that mold is the number one enemy of both carpets and your health. Mold removal is hard and the negative effects on you and your environment will be long term and terrible. Of course, the avoidance of mildew growth is the best remedy. This is possible if you make sure carpets:
* Are not placed in the basement, bathroom, or other moisturized areas
* Are cleaned well and inspected for mold often
* Are kept away from water pipes
* Are dried thoroughly after cleaning and stain removal
Frequent carpet cleaning will ensure their good condition. Mold will grow when it finds the perfect conditions. It needs moisture, warmth, and food source. It will feed on dust collected in between fibers. The longer the rug is wet, the better for mildew growth! The bad thing is that you don't always spot the damage easily. Sometimes, it hides at the bottom part of the carpet where mildew inspection is hard to locate, especially if the carpet is adhered on the floor.
Repercussions from carpets contaminated by mold
Solving mold issues fast is critical. The longer it stays and feeds on dust, the faster it will ruin your carpet. If the problem extends, you might be forced to replace the carpet and treat the floor and this will be on your expense in terms of money and hassle. The worst thing is that mold will have terrible effects on your health. When people inhale mold allergens, their health deteriorates. People with sensitive health or asthma will have the most problems. Even if you don't currently have health issues, coming in contact with mold spores will make your eyes red and your skin will be irritated. You may have hay fever symptoms, a runny nose, or lung and throat problems.
Health problems are not always revealed right away. Depending on one's current state of health, the symptoms might be delayed. So, it's best to look out for changes in health overtime and remember that regular rug cleaning and good inspections for mildew can prevent such unpleasant or even threatening situations.
